Cape, Hermanus, road trip, South Africa

SA Road Trip | Day 16 | Knysna to Cape Town

Wishing we could stay in Knysna longer, we packed up and hit the N2 towards Cape Town early last Tuesday morning. It was cloudy and rainy for most of the day, which made traveling easy, and really brought out the colours of the landscape especially around Swellendam. From an area covered in lush forest we cruised into a European wonderland with green hills and canola fields.

We took a detour past Hermanus. We first stopped off at the new harbour and then drove around to the old historic harbour Hermanus is so famous for. We weren’t lucky enough to sea any Southern Right whales, but perhaps we missed them because the sea was rough… or perhaps because we weren’t really looking at all…

A few years back Sean and I also took a drive around the coastal route past Betty’s Bay. For a short part of the route between Kleinmond and Betty’s it feels like you’re in a completely different world, surrounded by white rocks, fynbos and farm houses. We love this part of the Cape!

We wish we could spend more time in each of these places, but simply seeing how this country’s landscape changes is more amazing than we could ever have hoped for…
