We first took a wrong turn on the way to Liani + Eduan’s venue… It was our first time shooting at the Stone Cellar in Heidelberg and we were too excited to check our map properly… We knew it was going to be unforgettable. It’s rare that we don’t spend a good amount of time with both the bride and groom before the wedding day, but in this case we only really met Eduan that morning. We weren’t sure what to expect from this mystery man, but his warm and welcoming nature, his passion for God and his incredible love and admiration for his beautiful bride was all that was needed for us to connect.
Liani and her sister Liza made us feel like old friends as they greeted us when we parked our car! We chatted so much over emails and coffee prior to this and even enjoyed Liani’s bridal shower with them. Never have we had a bride so down to earth and openly excited to help carry bikes and bags with us as we started to set up… I don’t doubt it had much to do with her absolute love for bicycles when she eagerly helped Sean take our proud 48cc motorised bicycle off the bike rack in her shorts and t-shirt before even thinking of joining her sisters to have her hair done. This incredible family, who have both lost so much along the way, have made us laugh and cry with them (not an easy thing, even behind a large camera) and have moved us with their passion and love of life.
Liani and Eduan, we will never forget you and we see it as the greatest pleasure to have been a part of your life story. May you always remember how you felt on this day and may you never stop laughing together…
All our love, Ilse and Sean
