Chirundu Safari Wedding | Zambezi River, Zimbabwe | Carla + Jayde

Even though we’ve been getting used to the sight of the airport in Harare and landing on the small field there, it still gives us a thrill every time!
Carla and Jayde were the most incredible hosts and although they were already on the border at their wedding venue in Chirundu, they invited us to stay in their home in the city where we had a warm lasagna waiting for us!
We were picked up by one of their close friends the next morning and arrived in Chirundu, right on the Zambezi River, about 5 hours later!

The first sight of the great Boabab trees as one passes over the escarpment toward the Chirundu Nature Reserve is breath-taking and for us was just the beginning of an incredible weekend with the warmest and kindest people.  We were even entertained by the presence of a small pride of Lions right outside the camp, a few wandering hippos and even a bathing Wild Dog in the water tank!

From a delicious braai in the wild on the morning of the wedding, to a highly entertaining performance from a father and son Dj pair, it was an all round awesome experience.

Thank you Carla and Jayde for making this so memorable and for having us as a part of your wedding weekend!

A few words from the bride:

There were two ‘love at first sight’ moments ahead of our Big Day: the first, when I met my amazing husband Jayde 9 years earlier and the second, when we came across the beautiful, historic Paul V Mission church nestled amongst baobab trees in the picturesque Zimbabwe bush.

We loved the rustic charm of the crumbling, roofless church where we said our vows, and chose a spot on the banks of the great Zambezi River for our reception. Thus, I married the man of my heart in a place which we both hold very close to our hearts, surrounded by our special family and friends.

With the unwavering support from Jayde as well as my amazing family and planner, Brenda Brown, after some hard planning-work our wedding day unfolded without a hitch and is etched in my memory as one of the happiest days of my life. I am so thankful to everyone involved for making it the perfect day and for Gingerale for so meticulously capturing and preserving forever, the special occasion.
