Ilse usually writes these brief descriptions, but for some reason, on our way home from Ashley and Caron’s wedding, I really felt like I needed to take this one.
Ilse and I loved every part of their day, from the church ceremony, to the street reception at Meet on Milner, to the small intimate dinner for their families and closest friends at the Brasserie de Paris. It all had this beautifully understated, spontaneous atmosphere to it.
I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed every wedding I’ve shot since I started two and a half years ago. The thing is, I’m an introvert. I’m generally much happier lurking in the background, but for some strange reason I often seem to find myself in situations best suited for extroverts. Over the years, I’ve become rather fond of meeting couples and their families and being part of a day that is so intimate and emotional. None of the couples I’ve met have felt like clients. We’ve completed every wedding so far having felt like we spent the day with friends. Ashley and Caron were no different.
Listening to one of their closest friends describe them was incredibly touching. Jeremy described their journey so vividly, that I felt I knew Ashley and Caron almost as well as I know my own closest friends. I must confess that I felt a little nervous on behalf of Ashley that he had to follow what was just about the most amazing speech I’d ever heard. But, being as articulate and well spoken as he is, what he said had me deep in thought for a couple of days following the wedding. These two love life. They really love life. I almost felt overwhelmed just listening to the things they’ve done and the things that they are involved in, not to mention the plans they have for the future. A future that may, for now, take them far away from their families, but one that is driven by love and compassion for others. Over the time we got to know them, Ashley shared so many wonderful tales about their journey together, and their desire to live life to the fullest really struck a chord with me.
Ash and Caron, Ilse and I are so blessed to have met you. I hope we’re able to spend a little more time with you guys sometime in the future and wish you every bit of happiness in your new life together.
Thank you for an awesome day.
Much love, Sean and Ilse
